Module Properties panel

Use the Module Properties panel to set module properties, including the name of the model file (if any) that you imported to provide the module’s contents, whether the module should be saved in a separate file from the model, the picture (if any) that appears on the module icon in the model, and whether the module is password-protected.

To view the Module Properties panel, select a module icon on the model diagram. For information about using panels, see Working with panels.

Note: To view the Module Properties panel, you must be viewing the model on the Model layer.

Import

Click this button to import an existing model into the module. The contents of the imported model become the contents of the module.

Save in separate file

By default, modules are saved in the model file. To save the module in a separate file (.ITMX), select this check box and then select how you want to name the module file:

Note: All module files are saved as .ITMX files, regardless of whether they are saved with iThink or with STELLA.

• <moduleiconname> – Select this option to save the module in a file named the same as the module icon's name. If you change the module icon's name later, the file name will be updated to match the changed name the next time you save the model that contains the module.
• Enter module file name – Select this option to specify another name for the module. If you select this option, type a name for the module in the box. The module file's name will not change if you change the module icon's name.

When you save a module in a separate file, it is saved in a "Modules" directory within the model file's directory.

Picture

Use the options in this section to include a picture on the module's icon.

• Import button – Click this button to import a picture for the module's icon. Before you click this button, first choose the source of the picture:
• from a file – Select this option to import an image file on your computer. When you select this option and then click the Import button, you are prompted to specify the image file you want to use.

• from the clipboard – Select this option to import the image currently copied to the clipboard. When you select this option, make sure you have first copied a picture to the clipboard, then click the Import button.

  Note: For a list of supported image file formats, see Supported graphic file formats.
  
  For best results, put all picture files in a directory entitled "graphics", located in the same directory as the model file.

If there was an existing picture on the model's icon, it is replaced by the new picture you specify.

• Size to module icon – Select this check box to scale the imported picture so that it fits within the module icon.

When you import a picture, it appears in the "Picture" section of the Module Properties panel as well as on the module icon in the diagram.

To delete the imported picture, click in the upper-right corner of the picture on the Module Properties panel.

Security

Select the Password protect check box to password-protect the module. When you select this check box, you are prompted to enter a password. Model users will be required to enter the password you specify when they try to access the module.
