systems Partners with Forio to Offer Online Simulation Sharing New service enables STELLA and iThink users to more easily
share systems models over the Web
February 21, 2007, Lebanon, NH – isee systems has partnered with Forio Business
Simulations to offer a new, Web-based service for sharing models developed in
STELLA® and iThink®. The service, available for software versions
9.0.2 and later, provides an easy way for modelers to share and run their
models on the Web without being a Web development expert or requiring
additional investments in software and hardware.
“STELLA and iThink models are powerful tools for communicating the
interdependencies in all kinds of systems or processes. Model simulations
enable people to ‘see’ the impact of a change in policy or strategy—and then
use that information to drive decision-making,” says Joanne Egner, managing
director of isee systems. “Our customers understand the value of leveraging the
Web to share their models and communicate with their colleagues, clients and
students. We are pleased to provide them with this capability
through our collaboration with Forio.”
“This is a logical partnership for us,” adds Michael Bean, CEO of Forio Business
Simulations. “isee is widely recognized as a leader in Systems Thinking and
system dynamics modeling, which dovetails nicely with our position as providers
of Web simulations and simulation hosting. We’re extremely pleased to be
offering this joint solution, which immediately enhances the value of isee
models by making them readily available to a wide audience. We’re looking
forward to continuing to build this relationship far into the future.”
Easy-to-use wizards will guide isee modelers through a publishing process that
posts models—previously saved as .txt files—to the Web for immediate
consumption. The resulting HTML pages can then be further customized as desired
to include, for example, company graphics and instructions for users.
Users will have two options for sharing STELLA- and iThink-based
simulations via the Web:
Forio Broadcast Express — Limited to models comprising 2,500
equations or fewer, this free service includes simulation
creation tools, simulation hosting, a simulation Web address, a user-friendly
control panel to guide the publishing process, and instant site set-up. Access
to simulations cannot be restricted, although only the publisher can view or
edit the models.
Forio Broadcast Professional — Designed for organizations who
need privately hosted simulations, and professionals who desire their own Web
presence, this monthly subscription service provides sophisticated site
analysis tools, a personal domain name, password-enabled access controls, 25 GB
of data transfer per month, and more.
